Groups of Wilkes-Barre residents have banded together to petition state officials to repeal a fireworks law they say has increased disruption of peaceful living and endangered neighborhoods. Linda Joseph, president of the Rolling Mill Hill Residents’ Association, and Wilkes-Barre District B Councilman Tony Brooks, announced a petition drive to repeal the legality of purchasing and selling “consumer fireworks” as authorized in Pennsylvania Act 43, which was passed in 2017. They are joining forces with the Wilkes-Barre Crime Watch Coalition in the effort, Joseph said.
ANY FIREWORKS THAT SHOOT UP INTO THE SKY OR MAKE A LOUD NOISE ARE ILLEGAL IN PA WITHOUT A PERMIT.
IN SPITE OF THAT, THESE ILLEGAL FIREWORKS ARE ALLOWED TO BE SOLD IN PA. THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE (MOSTLY CHIDREN) ARE INJURED EVERY YEAR BECAUSE OF FIREWORKS. LET'S LEAVE THEM TO THE PROFESSIONALS, AND STOP THE EXPLOSIONS THAT DISTURB THE PEACE. ALL OF THE DOGS IN THE STATE WILL ALSO BE VERY GRATEFUL. ASKING OUR PENNSYLVANIA LEGISLATURE TO BAN THESE SALES. https://www.petitions.net/ban_the_sale_of_fireworks_in_pennsylvania This petition is to help ban personal fireworks in PA. They are dangerous and can cause harm to both people and animals from injuries and mental distress. Most people know this and are against the sale of fireworks for personal use. We must act now letting our politicians know that the people of Pennsylvania are against the sale of personal fireworks and want a ban on them now.
